A counselor for caregivers, older adults, and those navigating grief and loss.

Where It All Began
Where I Am Today
My understanding of caregiving began long before I became a counselor.
Growing up in Charleston, South Carolina, I watched my father faithfully care for my mother for much of my life. His quiet endurance, kindness, and unwavering commitment left a lasting impression on me.
Today, I have the privilege of combining professional training with lived experience to walk alongside caregivers, older adults, and those navigating grief and loss.
Adoption & Motherhood
That conviction eventually led me back to a dream I had set aside years earlier.
Although I originally moved to Texas intending to study counseling, life took me in a different direction. For more than two decades I served alongside my husband in ministry, raised our family, and cared for the people God had entrusted to us. When the time was right, I returned to graduate school and completed my Master of Arts in Counseling at Columbia International University.
Years later, my husband and I adopted three daughters from China, Ethiopia, and Haiti. Parenting children with unique needs brought incredible joy, but it also introduced me to the realities of chronic stress, developmental trauma, navigating complex medical and mental health systems, advocating for my children, and wondering if I was doing enough.
There were seasons when I felt exhausted, isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn. Those experiences taught me something I now share with many of my clients: The people who care for everyone else need someone to care for them, too.
My Story: Hi, I'm Cindy
BOOK A 20 MIN INTRODUCTION CALL
As your counselor, I want you to know that you don't have to pretend you're holding everything together.
My hope is to provide a place where you can exhale, process difficult emotions without judgment, strengthen your nervous system, and rediscover the parts of yourself that caregiving may have pushed into the background. I believe caring for yourself is not selfish—it is one of the most loving things you can do for both yourself and the people who depend on you.
I use evidence-based approaches informed by neuroscience, trauma research, and attachment theory while honoring each client's values, relationships, and unique life story. Whether you're caring for an aging parent, a spouse with a chronic illness, or grieving the many losses that often accompany caregiving, you don't have to walk this road alone.
It would be an honor to walk alongside you.
What You Can Expect
I love rainy days, reading books, listening to people’s stories, singing, hiking, and playing cards with my family.
I have three French Bulldogs I adore snuggling with on the couch.
If caregiving has taught me anything, it’s that self-care is a must, and hobbies are often the perfect way to develop and attend to peace and joy.
I also enjoy long walks on the beach, afternoon naps when I can get them, and views of the mountains along with the smell of pine.

everhope, llc is a long-awaited endeavor come true for Cindy. When she left South Carolina for seminary in Texas, she intended to study counseling. She was in her twenties and quickly realized she had some growing up to do, and changed degrees. Through the hard work of adoption and related experiences navigating developmental trauma, Cindy gained deeply personal insight into the challenges of caregiving day after day. She read books, tried various techniques to help her daughters with their unique needs, prayed, and cried often. Once the girls became more independent, Cindy decided to pursue a degree in counseling once again - this time with maturity, experience, and a clear vision. She completed her counseling degree just shy of 29 years after initially moving to Texas with that goal in mind.
To honor her father’s many years of caregiving, Cindy launched everhope, llc to provide professional mental health counseling specifically for caregivers, the aging, and those navigating grief and loss. When Cindy looks back on her years of caregiving as an adoptive mother, she recalls the ache of loneliness and exhaustion she experienced. In that season (and even now), she found herself navigating attachment disorders, chronic illnesses, genetic unknowns, and dealing with practitioners who could not provide the answers she needed to help her daughters. She hopes to help caregivers recognize the significant need for holistic self-care that nurtures their nervous systems, as well as the importance of developing a community for support.
The Story Behind everhope
In the case of an emergency, please call 911.
Sometimes, the most courageous step caregivers can take is engaging in therapy for their own well-being. In doing so, the individuals they care for gain healthier, more compassionate, and sustainable support. Caregiving, aging, and grief are often deeply intertwined along with trauma, overwhelm, burnout, isolation, depression, relational conflict, guilt, shame, and compassion fatigue. If you are experiencing any of these issues, we encourage you to book a phone consultation to meet Cindy and ask questions.
